Software functions are like a cat.

You can call it, but that doesn't mean it is gonna do what you want.

For context, we were in the middle of an incident when I was at Atlassian, and I said this. A few days later someone retold the quote. It seemed familiar...and it was definitely like something I would say, minus the usual colorful language.
